Welcome
Your journey on ACCA Financial Management begins with the tuition, or learning, phase. In total, the learning phase of your ACCA Financial Management course requires a minimum of 56 hours’ work. In each chapter of the online course, we indicate the minimum study time required. This is a guide as to the minimum time you should spend on each chapter. Many students will need longer, as there will be a need to pause recordings to go recap things, as well as a need to rework questions that you did not get right the first time. Recapping is a vital part of the learning process.
You also need time for revision.
The ACCA has said that students who fail tend to do so because they fail the OT questions in section A and B. Ensure you pay attention to these questions and that you are able to get them exactly right. The ‘ALL OR NOTHING’ marking system means you get no marks for getting an OT question partly right. And the examiner tries to trick you with giving plausible alternative answers to the correct answer. Don’t be tricked: work out the answer to a question yourself and then look to see if what you have arrived at is on the examiner’s list.
We divide the Section B and C questions into three types:
Tuition (T),
Revision (R) and
Stretch (S).
On this first part of the course attempt all the Tuition (T) questions.
If time allows, at the end of the tuition phase, have a second go at the tuition questions. You can also attempt the stretch questions in the period between your tuition and your revision course. You will then be well prepared for your revision course.
On the revision phase of the course, attempt all of the Revision (R) questions – please do not attempt the revision questions until you come on your revision course. If you are happy with all the Tuition (T) questions, we recommend you try the Stretch questions between Tuition (T) and Revision (R).
Attempt as many questions as you can in timed conditions. Mark your attempt. How did you do? If possible, come back to the question again later.
This course (Financial Management) builds on knowledge acquired at the Management accounting module (MA) of the Knowledge level and the Performance management Module of the skills level. We advice that students should have studied these modules before attempting the Financial Management module (or should be studying the Performance Management Module concurrently with this one.
Persons who have completed the Knowledge level of ACCA (or have been exempted from it) and should have or be studying the Performance Management(PM) module.
